Situated just above the Block Island post office, Clayhead Salon & Spa provides an oasis. Even within a beautiful place like Block Island entering in Clayhead makes one feel a world away. In its third season of operation, owned and operated by Michael Aaron, the spa offers a number of services from the essentials to the luxurious.
The space itself is welcoming. Designed and build by Aaron himself, an open floor plan with beautiful lighting makes one instantly feel comfortable being there. Private rooms for body services like massages, facials and waxing sit just off the main area. During nail and hair services, beautiful views of Old Harbor can be taken in. With this, one feels no guilt about spending an hour or so inside even on a beautiful day.
“Love yourself, we can help!” on Clayhead’s door reminds visitors to participate in self-care, something that can be over looked in our hectic lives. Especially for those on vacation, taking a stop by Clayhead is a great way to find your holiday mojo and enhance your getaway.
The employees and owner who work at the spa are kind and genuine. The Clayhead is far from one of those spas where you feel like you are disrupting others Everyone here is friendly and welcoming, balancing guests expectation to relax and enjoy themselves but also engage in the ever-popular salon chit-chat if that is what is preferred. There is a level relationship between clients and providers, the “I’m prettier, healthier and better than you” vibe is replaced with on of shared understanding and urge to please.
For nail services, Clayhead offers the works with Essie & Shellac Polishes. A signature Mani Pedi Combo while taking in the harbor view is $65 which $12 additional charge for Shellac.
If you are planning a romantic evening out on Block Island, a quick blowout will definitely make you look you just came off the movie set. Think of the sunset, the dinner and the awesome profile picture you will take and the $50 service is definitely worth every penny.
Massages by Debbie can be in the fashion of Swedish, deep tissue, sport or personalized to your liking. Before massages, Debbie sits with clients to figure out what exactly they would like to get out of the experience; asking for specific goals for the sessions. Enter the room and let your senses be taken.
Inviting service rooms are clean, comfortable and private.
